In January Olli-Pekka told the rest of the guys he was leaving the band. The remaining duo had two choices: to go on as a duo or to hire new members. And the decision was easy, Petri Sankala (who had already played on all EToS gigs) became the permanent drummer. Also, two other local young musicians were hired: Pasi Hiltula (keyboards) and Antti-Matti Talala (guitar).
The new line-up started rehearsing in spring and the material for the album (that was later to be called "Chaotic Beauty" was being written. It was clear from the very beginning of this song-writing process that this was going to be the heaviest and most extreme EToS album ever. The band rehearsed intensively throughout the year. The recording sessions took place at Tico-Tico in November and December and the results were very convincing. For the first time, an EToS album was mixed by a Finnish metal recording guru, Mikko Karmila.
2000: "Chaotic Beauty", European Tour
In early 2000, the third album Chaotic Beauty was released. First, it was released in Finland and in a few months, it was released in many countries including the German-speaking countries, Japan, Russia, Southern America and France.
On spring, the first European tour was confirmed. EToS was going to tour with Nightwish and Sinergy in nine countries for six weeks. The band started intensive training for the tour and when October came, the five members were ready. What a nice tour it was! Unfortunately, by the end of the tour, Antti-Matti Talala was asked to leave the band and was replaced by Antti Kokko who had been playing with EToS on gigs in 1997 and 1998.
2000-2001: "A Virgin and a Whore"
After a very short break from the tour, the band went to record their first single Last One for Life. After the Christmas, it was time to record the fourth album, called A Virgin and a Whore. The members were already very tired of it all but they just had to keep on going for the next six months before they could get some rest.
For the first time in the history of the band, the members were tired of being busy all the time with the band related things. Still, they had to record one more album. The songs for A Virgin and a Whore were written in two months only. Being too tired for the tour, the band had only one gig in 2007, supporting Megadeth in Oulu. Before that, the first single come out and went to the Finnish singles Top 20. The album came out later that year. Now it was time to think about the future of the band, and more importantly, to think about something completely different for a while...
