Biography

1995-1997: Compilation CDs, First Record Deal, Debut album

In 1995, the band had a leap year but they also managed to get songs on CD, on several compilation albums. By the spring of 96, the band got a record deal with X-Treme Records from Gotherburg, Sweden. Also, the very first version of the EToS website appeared online in February. The recording sessions started at Tico-Tico in early July 1997. It was a proud moment for the band: finally they had an album of their own.

The year of '97 and another thing to be proud of: the band started to prepare themselves for their first gig ever, in their home town. As the band still consisted of three members only, two session members were temporarely hired: Petri Sankala (from Andromeda '92) and Antti Kokko. Coincidentally, both of these session members joined EToS some years later.

The gig took place but the debut album Sinner's Serenade didn't get released until September.

1998: "Vilda Mánnu"

In early '98, the band booked two weeks at Tico-Tico to rxecord their next album called Vilda Mánnu. The deal with X-Treme Records was closing, so the band decided to record the album on their own.

The recordings took place in July, and at the studio the band could hear the improvement in their music and the overall production. After the recording sessions, it was time to seek a new label. Negotiations were held with different labels and finally, the band chose Spinefarm Records, a Finnish label that was a rising independent label at that time.

The album was released in December and before that, Burning Flames' Embrace was included on Sacrament of Wilderness, the second single by Nightwish. A lot of things were going to happen the next year.
